Ok my parents said if i do good my senior year they will give me $5K to fix up my car or buy a TII
basically rebuilding would include:
Rebuilt motor(doesnt need it but wouldnt hurt for the 4 years il be away at college)
new carpet
paint
exhaust
seats
sun roof motor(was thinking junk yard)
front bumper and left fender and head light casing(acident)
new dash pieces or maybe a whole new piece off a wrecked car
If i have money left over rims tires and knightsport front bumper
most of the work il be dooing myself except the re-build
or a TII the thing is im going to college and reliabilty is going to be a issue seeing how il be working for colege and going to school. Expenses wont be to bad because il be living with my friend he just bought a house down there.
So RX7Club choose my fate

also check www.teamfc3s.org i seen a few there.
I have a 91 vert and just picked up my 91 TII this week. After the first time I hit boost, I must say that I am addicted. My vote would be for the TII as long as you can find a good, reliable one in your price range. I just picked up mine for under $3k with 10k miles on a Mazda reman. The paint is in rough shape and it needs a few things (motor mounts, clutch, etc.), but good deals are out there if you look hard.

Sell the N/A, buy a tII, put enough money in the bank for a reuild, and use the rest to mod it.

Ok, I'll be the contrarian
With what he has planned for his NA, he will end up with virturally a new car. He's starting college and won't have the time or money to deal with the repair of a used car.
I've seen alot of votes from the hearts of enthusiasts (not surprising considering this is a web site designed for enthusiasts), but not many from the mind with focus on his primary concern.... reliability. And, it is well accepted NA's are the reliable versions, rebuild or no.
So, my vote is for the NA with the complete re-do he described.

Yea, I am in that exact same situation, only I got no money from my parents. My engine blew earlier this summer, it was either rebuild with a little spice or sell everthing and buy a TII. Well, I am taking care of the NA. The main reason is that I didn't want to have to go through this ordeal again, but I would be away and hacve absolutely NO money. Thats why for at least the next year or so I will be staying NA. Just too much of a risk for myself in buying a turbo at this point.

Although I can't imagine life without the Tii, I couldn't in good conscience advise someone without time and financial resources to dump cash into a USED turbo. They are attention hounds, and parts aren't cheap.
We've had a couple of N/A's, and they do have the better reliability index. If you need it to last without problems, go N/A.
You can pick up a Tii after graduating from college when you have more cash to deal with the problems.
Good luck!
