Lookin' pretty good!

Ditch the Pep Boys thermostat - I've seen them fail MANY times, often within a month or two of installation. Get the Mazda thermostat from Mazda - you'll thank me for it.

The Viton oil seal o-rings seem functionally good, but they're a royal pain to install. Mazda, in the past few years, changed the oil seals to a better quality material and they fit great. If you end up having fitment problems, think about the Mazda seals - I don't believe they're that much at all.

I don't know what belts you got, but I only recommend Dayco belts - they work *great*, real long life and very grippy.

Hopefully you'll have good luck, but unfortunately I've seen MANY parts store clutches disintegrate - my roommate Brian went through 2 of 'em on his '90 GTU when it was NA. The clutch lining delaminates from the disc, and you don't have any more clutch . But, it will get you on the road - just know that you may need a better clutch at a later date.

Anyhow, great job, and hopefully you'll be on the road soon!

And one more thing -

If you haven't done so, start autocrossing. Two autocrosses under your belt and you can qualify for Mazdacomp - you would be SHOCKED how cheap you get stuff from them! Once you're a member, you only have to submit one result a year to stay current. I sat down and did the math on parts for a normal rebuild - the savings compared to Mazdatrix was something like 30-40% across the board, some more, some less.

Not to mention the guys at Mazdacomp are SUPER nice and VERY knowledgeable - you can call asking about the weirdest part and they know just what you're talking about.

Mazda is the *only* Japanese company in the US that offers this type of service - take advantage of it!

Yea Ive read alot of bad things about the stant thermo so I will be buying a mazda one.

The viton rings were a pain in the ***. I broke 2 oil ring metals trying to get them back on the rotor :P

One of the belts is dayco.. I tried to get the cheapest lol.

As for the clutch, as long as it lasts me 50k ill be ok with that. THe old clutch was in bad shape. Bad finger wear on the driveplate and chunks missing from the disc. I thought a cheap crap one would be better than putting that thing back in.

I have been tending to buy cheap things because i have the mindset of "I have it apart, why not replace it, it cant be any worse than this 15 year old pos"

I think all and all ill be in about $1500, but that is going to be for alot of things to be replaced, not just the engine.

AS for autocrossing, thats what im most looking forward to. I actualyl have a nissan truck I drive everyday. The RX7 i just bought because the appeal of a car that you can beat the **** out of and it will take the abuse.

Its getting good treatment though. i've gone to pre-mix and full synth oil. ALthough with as hard as i plan to drive it , I really should have bought a better clutch lol. OH well, next time

I will definetly have to look into mazdacomp once I start (one of these days, if i ever get finished)

I agree w/ the Pep Boys comment. I only go to Pep Boys for one thing: fluids. All of their products, like battery, starters, alternators, etc...I would avoid. In my previous car (a 240sx), I've had the starter and battery fail on me. These were the Pep Boys brand and installed by the previous owner.

I also agree in regards to the clutch. Get a quality clutch. The materials used are generally better and will last much longer.

Hey , i went to the rotaryaviation site and the kit you ordered (im pretty sure is the basic one by looking at the price) doesnt have any of the corner seals, side seals or the springs for them. Just has the apex seals and springs. So i would make sure yours are still in spec before you reuse them.

Yea I was lucky and all my old seals were still good

The engine had GREAT compression on both rotors, just smoked a bit and had some fuel injection problems (injector stuck open)

The website is http://www.mazdamotorsports.com I think.

Phone number is 1-800-435-2508.

The new name is Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, which is just damn cool . Mazda is going to start seriously promoting the Mazdaspeed name, which kicks ***.

Again, it's Mazda's team support program - you can only order parts from them if you compete in some sort of sanctioned racing. Autocrossing is the easiest way to get qualified, not to mention it's lots of fun . You have to submit 2 race results to be a member, then 1 a year after that to keep current status.
