Rebuild or not..

If i were you i would definately rebuild the engine before you put it in. If it is smoking the seals are pretty worn which means compression could be low. If it has not been rebuilt before, you could have the side and intermediate housings lapped to get rid of wear. I am no expert though. Good luck, Rob

Thats a key phrase *IS IT WORTH IT?*. To do it half right you need 1000 plus or minus a hundred bucks in just parts. So now the engine is rebuilt. Can you sell the car now for 1000? 2000?3000? Thats if you rebuild it yourself. The 1000 bucks. I think its only worth it if you like to make broken things work or are obsessed with rx7's. Then again it could be worth it because you know what the condition of the engine is and don't have to worry about whether or not its at the end of the trail so to speak. You can drive on long trips with little worry. Just a thought. You can buy, from what I have read on this site, JSec engines, but they are used. You have no idea how they were treated by the previous owner. Warrenty? Not much good 1000 miles from home.
