Rebuild kits for 1987 RX-7?

Hi
I've been trying to find rebuild kits for a 1987 RX-7 Turbo II.... do you all know where they have these for reasonable prices?

If not could you list the parts needed for a seal rebuild?

Thanks
Matt

assuming you mean engine rebuild, check your local mazda dealership. They have "kits".

I called 4 none of them had them... they said they could "put together one" but it would cost like $1100!!

What exactly are you looking for? I got a quote from a local Mazda dealer for $200 for a complete set of gaskets/seals and such.

I'm not really sure exactly yet. The guy I'm gonna get this from said the seal is cracked and is loosing compression. I don't know what that means or what I need parts wise.

losing comp= Apex seals.

1100 hundered for a professional rebuild on the engine? That is a GOOD deal.
Entire gasket kits (engine rebuild kits) cost around 800$.

No I was talking about just the kit was $1100.... just the seals and gaskets.

So I'll just need to replace the Apex seals?

I also have lost almost all compression on my 88TII. I don't know if the apex seals are broken or simply worn out. I have a warranty on the motor but only if the apex seals aren't "broke".

how many miles have you put on the motor since you had it? also, how hard have you been driving it? what company did you get the motor from?

if you drive the car kina easy(not always on the gas) and its got low motor mileage then you might wanna check the oil metering pump and the oil injectors. thats probably what caused the failure, if it is, fix it befor you get another motor!

oh yeah. dont forget, detonation and too high of a boost setting will also be detrimentle to the apex seals.

The oil injectors provide dirty engine oil for the apex seals. You need to read a bunch of info on rotary engines before looking for rebuild kits. It sounds like you just got into this. I was lucky enough to have someone tell me all about my car and help me fix it. MrBob86 is the bomb (gotta give some props). Does anyone know where to get liturature on rotarys? I can't find much general knowlege off of the internet. you might try http://www.rotaryaviation.com/Books_videos.htm
there are videos for sale that are step by step and supposed to be very good. I am gonna get one when I rebuild.

haha, only 7k miles on motor. i drive it hard almost all the time and i know the oil injectors are working.

and i don't believe high boost will cause pre-mature wear, but rather, cause breakage.

well, i mixed 1oz/gal of MMO every fill-up. didn't seem to help any. and my MOP works fine without leaks. i called Atkins today and they said to ship them the motor and they'll have a look at it. I just know they'll say that apex seals are broken so they don't have to warranty the motor. But the loss of compression was slow coming until finally it won't run right. Not instant loss of compression like broken apex seals tend to cause. Either way, i have to shovel out a butt load of money to ship a motor to washington and if they say it's my fault, i have to pay to get the motor shipped back to me. which is prolly gonna set me back 300 each way. and then i still have to rebuild it.
