Talking Rebuild Complete!!! Now I wait for a new starter to see if it runs... pics

Well my Rx7 is finally back together... minus the starter... I have the engine rebuilt and in the car!!!

It has:
RA apex seals/ springs
New side seals and springs
Atkins solid corner seals
FD corner seal springs
Atkins thermal pellet
Mazda trix gasket set
Viton oil o-rings

I had a lot of trouble putting this engine back together and alot of things went wrong but I believe I straightened everything out... Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope she runs perfectly... once I get my new starter...

And then there is this thing that I broke when putting the engine back in... what is it, what does it do, and where can I get another? It is on the upper intake manifold at the rear by the fire wall...

That's a vacuum thermovalve. IT controls your double throttle actuator, which controls 2 of your 5 throttle plates. When the engine (coolant) is cold, the valve lets vacuum through, pulling the actuator and plates closed, which blocks airflow into the engine, keeping you from raising hell on a cold motor. When it warms up the valve switches closed, the vacuum is gone, the actuator opens, and the plates open up to allow more air into the secondary passages.

So, all you have to do is block off the vacuum supply end (from the yellow part down to the manifold, block that nipple on the manifold off) and you don't need the rest. Provided you didnt break the actual base of the switch itself which will let coolant leak out. IF you did, then you'll have to get another one. Someone might be selling a thermowax valve (the part that the switch screws into) or a whole throttlebody.

The plastic has just come out of the metal ring that was holding it all together... I have the spring and the metal rod that came out of them when they separated... So the engine will run with out it together as long as I block off the vaccuum tubes so there isnt a huge vaccuum leak? I did not break anything on the metal part...
