Question rebuild

hey all you rotorians need some advice.have 88 rx7 great compression on #1 rotor, horrible on #2.engine runs obviously not too well.questions are 1)why no compression on all 3 faces all apex seals shot?2)has anyone ever heard of taking only the rear housing off and replacing apex seals on only one rotor?does not make sense to me but mazda mechanic(hacker?)says he has done it many times before with great results.sounds like dung to me what do you all think?

It can be done but why do something half ***.You may have damaged side seals also.May have to replace some housings.Especially the rear rotor housing and possibly the rotor.

you only need to blow 2 seal to lose all compression.

There are tensioner bolts that hold the housings together so basically they are interconnected. Plus you'd want to change the other seals to. Prepare for some new parts if some apex seals went.

Dont let him talk you into a half *** job. I have redone a few motors for guys that went the half route first. They end up paying twice (the hack once and me the second time).
