Exclamation rebuid questions

ok i bought my s5 from this lady and she said it overheated. after about 5 mins of trying to start it, it started it smoked like a bitch for a couple of mimutes and then it stopped it was running fine and then i got on the throttle and it started knocking bad sounded like the motor was coming apart. so if i buy the video (atkins rebuild) and the kit will i still be able to use the internals or should i just find another engine plz need help thank you

Well I am not sure what the knocking would be but wether to rebuild or buy another engine is strictly up to you and your budget.

It's really hard to say if the internals are going to be good or not without taking the engine apart. If you have to pull the engine anyways then take the motor apart, snap some pics and post them up and we can let you know with better accuracy.

If you want to go the easy route then buy another motor and just drop it in. Unfortunatly you could be in the same situation very soon because with used engines you never know exactly what your buying.

The easy way - Buy a jspec motor

But you should still take the motor apart regardless if you wanna learn bout these cars and see why the motor blew. Also there might be some good spare parts left for ya.

Take it apart and look at it. If the rotors and housings are still well within spec, with none to minimal damage, they should suffice.

eash... tahts alittle rough...

id give her 50bucks for the shortblock. If it overheated theres no telling if itll run agian. Overheating Warps the engine, most sometimes to a point of non rebuildability. youd be better to get it and use it for a learning experence and then buy a good rebuildable core. try and find a 7 that "just smoked alot of blue smoke before it was parked" chances are thats a rebuildable engine.

besides, youd only need the shortblock anyways, its dificult to get a S5 Intake to work off of an S4 ECM(though i know some who have...)
