Rear suspension help
I am replacing all of the bushings in my rear suspension this is a picture of the rear trailing arm bushing. NOT the pillow ball, I need to know if the metal ring is part of bushing or not.
that ring IS part of the rubber bushing.
most stock rubber bushings are like that, they have two metal tubes with rubber in between them. the rubber is bonded tot hese rings and the ring is pressed into the suspension piece.
there are severalways to remove this from super clean dealer hydraulic press and perfect sized adapters style to super ghetto hammer and screwdriver style.
you can have a shop press it out, or you can hacksaw out a small portion of theinner ring then saw thru the rubber then hacksaw thru the outer ring, being careful to avoid cutting too deeply into the suspension piece... the hacksaw will flex and you will cut thru the ends before you cut thru the metal, so you might want to also go after the outer ring with a hammer and a strong-hardened-steel chisel or pick.
good luck man

I need not goto a shop to have it pressed out since I bought a 10 ton press with fittings for this particular job, I just needed to know if that was part of the bushing, since I did not want to damage parts that were part of the control arm. I will tell you right now tho, there is NO easy way to do this since all of the bushings in the system are corroded into place. So far today I managed to get out the subframe bushings using the press for the senter then a screw driver/chisel and hammer to remove the excess rubber and a drill and wire brush to clean down to metal. I also just got off the bushings on both control arms where it attaches to the subframe linkage. But if that ring is part of the system I am going to press out all rubber and then chisel/push out the metal ring with a hammer and screwdriver/chisel. That is the only bushing I have seen with an inner and outer metal ring that are that small. I know the subfram had 2 but not like this.
Thank you for your help

So this is whats left and what the holes look like after bushing removal so far... the service manual said to use a chisel and hammer to remove... that helped none, especially since they just tore... so I used a drill to drill out the rubber and weaken it and a chisel/screwdriver to break the metal/rubber seal. Seems effective enough, check this out.
GO GO GADGET HAMMER!!!!
And yes thats a drill bit stuck in there, it kinda broke off... like many others LOL
