The only thing a solid bar will give you is more weight. Looking at both of these bars, I could design a much more rigid one if I wanted. Neither of these bars have good cross section rigidity. If you want to build one yourself, take a piece of sheet metal, bend it into a C-channel. It will be more rigid.
