The rear seal...?

The other day, I was driving somewhere, and saw a red S4 just sitting, it looked like it needed some major TLC, and the dialers it had almost looked rusted, because it had been sitting so long, and the plates expired june of 04. I saw it sitting in front of a bar and went in and asked the bartender about it, he said it was his project and "The rear seal is bad, I'm going to replace the rear seal." Now, I know I still don't know much about the 13B, but I have a feeling this guy is going to be surprised when he finds he has to replace a few more than one seal. If I'm wrong, tell me, because this one's got me guessing.

"rear seal" could be the rear main oil seal, or it could be a water seal, or an apex seal. A water seal or an apex seal would require a complete tear down and on an engine of that age, a whole bunch of new parts.
