Rear Pad Install problem

ok so I am putting my brakes on the rear and the pads that I have are hawk hps brand, and on the pads it has a tab that sticks up on both the back and front pad. Now this pad hits my piston when I try to put the caliper on. Anyone have any clue WTF I do now?

Can I grind the tabs off of it? Anyone think this is a good idea?

I would double check the pad and make sure your using the right one. Alot of guys use Hawk's on the forum and I havent heard of this problem before. If your certain that this is the right pad, then I would strongly reccomend contacting hawk before I started grinding stuff off.

That tab is for the metal pad jacket to have something to hold onto, and to guide the pad onto the piston. That tab fits into the V shape on the piston I believe, but you need that jacket for it. That is how I put mine on at least.

yeah those tabs are for the indents on the pistion. rotate the piston so that when you drop the caliper they sink with the pin type tabes.

from where it's hitting in your pics, it looks like you turned your piston too far back. the groove in the piston is supposed to line up with the tab. Turn the piston back a little counter-clockwise until it lines up. Looks like it will ony take 1/4 turn.
