Rear hub removal from carrier.

So I am removing all of my ABS sensors for Ric and the front 2 were cake, the rear is a different story! So a couple of things, the FSM is retarded in the fact it doesn't tell you nut and bolt sizes So I got the 32 MM socket and removed the nut. After much cussing and kicking I got the whole rear hub assembly off the car, I will have a write up on it later. So now I need a special tool to remove the hub from the carrier, which I obviously do not have. Does anyone know of a tool that I can use to separate these two pieces that will not damage anything? I have looked on MazdaTrix for the SST but they did not have it. I am sure I could buy it from Mazda but it would cost a fortune. Does anywhere sell this SST at a discounted price? I am not a member of MazdaComp anymore since my car is dead. Can anyone order it for me?

Thanks,

Eric

Need a press. When I changed the rear bearings, I took the assembly to the shop and had them do the work.

Update. In the dtss eliminator instructions from racing beat it said you could pop the hub off using the screws that held in the rotor. Well, I read it wrong, they said that you can remove the ROTOR with the screws if IT is stuck on. They said you can take out the screws and then thread them in from the rear and pop the rotor off. The only problem is, you cannot do that with ABS because the ABS rotor is blocking the hole where you thread in the screws.

I guess you need a puller or press.

I used a BFH to remove my hubs from my axels. Worked fine.

Go to autozone, or Shucks or most part stores and "rent" a puller. Usually they will let you just put down a down payment, and then they refund it to you when you return the stuff.

I made a tool that works great. No hammer. No damage to the hub or axle.

Two steel plates about 7" x 7". One drilled for the lug bolt pattern, a 2" hole in the center for the axle stub and four holes at the corners. The other plate is drilled with 4 holes at the corners to match the first plate. Bolt the first plate to the lug bolts on the hub. Bolt the second plate to the first at the corners with 4 12" bolts. Then put a bottle jack between the plates with the plunger on the axle stub. A couple pumps on the jack and the hub pops off. Works great and you can take the hub off without taking the car apart.

Ya. The puller didn't work and I don't like hitting my car with a hammer. The plates are easy to make. I've still got mine sitting in my "tool" collection.

I've tried to post pics of the hub puller tool several times over the last two days. No luck. The system will not let me attach them. I keep getting server errors. Sorry.

OK kids I read all the feed post, and thereis no way you are going to take it apart with out pulling the outer seal out of the bearing, done been there, that's life, but you can work that seal back into shape and put it back in, but then it's most likly going to sling greas
