Rear Hub Removal

HI guys,

I recently had a wheels lug stud break off. I am fortunate to have a parts car with almost all good parts. I was just going to pull the hub off and swap, rather than dealing with pressing a stud back in. I said to myself "Seems easy, right?"

Well, I went to rent a puller thinking I could just remove the caliper and brake disc then stick the hub puller on and wrench. I was doing this, but it started to seem the hub wans't coming out. I stopped before I broke anything.

I'm missing something. I did some searching, but none of this was too clear. So, how do I remove just the hub with the wheel studs? I must have missed a step.also, If you know a good thread that explains this clearly, link it.

thanks

you dont. the hub and the bearings will self destruct if you take them out.

YOu dont have to press the new studs in.
1.Punch the old ones out.
2. place the new stud through the hole, and tap it into place.
3. put the rotor and wheel back on
4 put lug nut on tork down a couple times and the stud will get pulled through.
done!

Will the stud clear the hub carrier? looked like it would hit it when backing out. If I can pop it out, this will be MUCH simpler.
