Rear hub assy bushings

I noticed when I changed the rear wheel bearings, that one of the bushings looked a little strange. When you pull the complete hub assy off there are three bushings. The one in question is the lower one. It doesn't appear to broke but it moves around like a hiem joint. There is no play it, but my question is, is it suppose to move around or remain solid and in place? I think this is the pillow ball joint.

You mean the one that's on an angle? If so, that's the rear steer bushing. In perfect form, they're supposedly a good thing, slightly changing toe on hard corners. But after many miles and wearing out, they can cause unpredictable rear end movement. Most people replace those with "rear steer eliminators", a solid or very firm bushing.

The bushing shown is not the one I am talking about. There is one more at the very bottom of the knuckle. According to the fsm, its called the pillow ball. Could this bushing/pillow ball wear out a brand new bearing in about 8 months?
