Rear hatch is stuffed

My rear hatch is not staying up - I know it is obviously the gas struts in the back but are they likely to be buggered or do they just need to be re-gassed?

generally not cost effective to re-build/re-gas. Generally when they fail its the seals in the strut that failed.

Cheap fix is a Crappy Tire snow brush about 2 1/2 feet long you prop up the lid with costs about $1.95.

just go to a scrap yard and look for an fc with ones that work. i got mine for 11 bucks

A friend at a custom shop told me Eibach makes (probably just lables) hatch struts...that would be a nice touch, I think.
