rear glass ?

rear glass ?

is there any one that sells a lighter back glas for the FC? Like plexi glass or lexan or something like that?

I believe that CS has one for about 500 dollars or so.

I had a friend who made his own out of lexan but it really added no benifit as the rear hatch is really not that heavy. I dont know if that helps or not.

yes i'd say they are 45-60 pounds. A lexan might still be ~30 though ther eisn't much room to work with there because of structure/durability and the metal ring.

i took mine off and put it on by my self, it is ******* heavy. i was thinking of removing the hole thing, making the ring out of carbon fiber, and then a lexan window, it should way about 15pds, maybe, but it will take a little time to tell.

i thought it would be light too, i went to grab it to tint the rear glass and about popped a roid out my ***...

mainly cause it caught me offguard so i threw myself under it to save the paint!

probably a bit more than that, the glass itself probably weighs close to 60lbs or more.

i went on the corksport site and didnt find anything to replace the back glass with something lighter

if youre going to mess with your glass and youre serious about weight reduction theres two options as i see it.

one, go for the flatback look, and convert to a vertical glass like the old mr2's. that shouldnt weight much at all,

either that or make a cf mold of the rear hatch, and replace only the flat part with lexan. using full lexan is still going to weigh a load. its a big peice.

for track use only.. why not just remove the whole damn mess?
