Thumbs up rear ends and trannys

alright let me start off by saying i have a 1990 n/a rx7 but looking to push more power. right now my tranny is starting to grind a little so im thinking about swaping them out for the turbo II one.

now here are some of my questions.
i heard when swaping the drivetrain you have to do the trany and rearend together why?

can i sawp over a third gen trany ?

and also what trany can handle the most power?what rear end can haddle the most power ?

thanks for imput. im trying not to half *** my car this time lol.

S4 or S5 turbo tranny and a mazdatrix turbo to NA driveshaft will be just fine. If the car is NA, you won't be breaking a rearend unless it sees 6k launches constantly.

cause the T2 tranni with NA rearend needs a speical driveshaft from mazdatrix: http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=2691-799

The drive shaft from an FC AUTOMATIC has the same spline as the TII and the same small bolt patern as the NA rear housing

So with your infinite wisdom what would you suggest?

WRONG! The S4 mechanical is the strongest. Why do you think the FD guys swap thier torsens for the S4 clutch type? Stop parroting garbage and only answer if you actually know something. Stop trying to increase your post count with bogus information.

That's called half-assing things. The driveshaft is infact too long. Use the Mazdatrix replacement or build your own and get it balanced or find a driveshaft shop. I would bet that you could get one custom built for less than the MT one. Just my $.02 though

added an extra D where it wasn't needed it should have read "Just Use a T2 5spd its plenty strong unless you plan on installing a single tubro 20B into the car."

Ok...time to throw in my question (hope it isn't a thread jack).

I have an '89 vert that had a 1/2 *** manual swap done. I have a '91 parts vert with the rear end still. Would I benefit by swapping in the rear end (manual from factory) from the '91 to the '89 (automatic from factory)?

Thank you!
