Rear end - Gear install

Hello World,

I am looking at doing a 4.77 rear end with the longer pinion, but I am entirely unsure about the cost (not the grafting, but the actual hard parts needed for installation).

Has anyone does this? Cost?

So far: $100 for 4.77 sort pinion gears
$350 for lengthening/grafting pinion.
S4 Clutch type rear - already have with car

Parts needed for install?

Aside from the ring and pinion, you shouldn't need anything unless you plan on replacing the carriage bearings (fluid and rtv aside).

Let me know if you find someone to graft the pinion! I've had zero luck and mazdatrix stated they had an unknown turnaround time frame. I need 4.77's for my peripheral port.

Seriously that, I would love to go 4.44.

Rebello Racing and Mazdatrix can do the fabrication for you.

Rebello costs about $350 + shipping them all the gears to do the modification. I may be doing a spare one here in the future. You'll need a Kia 4.77 r&p set and a long pinion for them to modify.

Good luck!

Welcome to Rebello Racing

His son does the modification.
There you both go.

Let's support a great local shop.

Awesome. That helps a great deal.

I think the 4.77's are the only way to go no matter the RX-7.

I've heard mention that Rebello does it but wasn't able to confirm. I sent them an email regarding the process and never heard back.

Mazdatrix stated it would be 450-500 for grafting alone and wasn't sure if and when it would get done.

Welp, I suppose I should pick up a spare pinion and then grab the Hyundai gears!

I've been running a mazdatrix 4.77 pinion for years now. Well worth the investment for an n/a build. Call them and ask?
