rear diff mounts?

I was re-installing my rear end the other day. On the diff, you have the three mounting points. The Front mount which I replced with a Comp mount. Then the back two mounting points. My question is about the two rear mounts. When installing it back, do you tighten the rubber mounts very tight, therefore squishing the "teeth"?. Reason I ask, I was at the junkyard yesterday, and noticed one that left a gap between the teeth of the rubber mount and the Diff.

At rest, when the car is sitting with weight on it - all of the 7's I've owned have had a small gap between the rubber "teeth" and the actual diff.

Whether or not its right Im not 110% on, but they've all been like that.

Hope that helps.

P.S. IIRC, the last one I put together....when you tighten down the nut, it runs out of threads before the cup with the rubber teeth actually hits the diff....
