rear diff and axel

so i was at the track here...and i was goin to do a burnout and i have an auto tranny, so i reved up to 4grand and yanked it into 1st and herd a snap . and my buddy was there and he came and told me that the axle was layin on the ground. so to make a huge story small...i broke the half shaft, and i cant pull the broken part out of the diff. and so if someone could tell me what i need ta do...are there any tricks or anything for getting the halfshaft out? it would help lots
thanks

Sounds like you've just learned how NOT to drive, and why not to race an auto.

Pull harder. They're held in by some little c clip type things. It might help to get something to pry on it.

And why not? Have you actually taken a diff apart? I have, it's not the type of c clip that you have to take out by taking the diff apart, it's like a spring that expands once it's past a ridge, to get it out you pull on it and it compresses and lets the stub shaft out. Check the FSM, there's nothing in there about doing anything but just reefing on it.
