rear defroster

My rear defroster turns off by itself i've noticed...and i just realized that it turns off when my rear winshield is cleared up by the defroster, in other words, it stops when it's done doing what it's supposed to do. Just wondering if fc's are supposed to be like that, anyone know?

Yes- the defrost circuit is on a timer. Stays on for x amount of time, then shuts off.

It's on a timer. It's about 20 minutes I think, but I've never timed it.
