Right after I removed the p/s and a/c stuff in my 88 n/a, my defrost light came on (with the car) and now I can't turn it off. The light is dim and then gets brighter when I push the button, but the rear defroster doesn't actually work (it worked before). Possibly I knocked something or tweaked something in the heating system, but what? Also, I pulled the p/s fuse (to eliminate the beeping), could that play a part in it?

the light is always on for mine, and yeah it gets brighter when i turn it on. when i bought the car i had the same problem as you, turned out that there was a break in the coils on the rear window, i just fixed the break with a little solder and it works great.
if that doesnt solve it then look at the wiring diagrams for it and they'll tell you what you might have done to cause this.
