You could find out why it stopped working using a multimeter and a wiring schematic. If you look at the back window, you'll see that there are 2 terminals, one on each side. If the wires there have popped off, then you've found your problem. If not, simply check for power and ground.

What's a whipper?

I think "whipper" = radio antenna.

Although, in San Fransisco, who knows?

You can buy a generic motorized/retracting antenna that will work. I remember buying one from Best Buy, and the only modification it needed was widening a bolt hole on the bracket where it mounts. Only difference between it and stock was that it went up when the car was on, not when the radio was on (I'm assuming stock went up when radio was turned on, but I may be wrong?).

There are three fuses for the rear defroster. The 10 amp Power Steering fuse, the 15 amp Turn fuse and the 30 amp Circuit Breaker fuse located at the top right of the interior fuse box.

i think he was talking about the rear wiper. not antenna. and im sure theres someone with 1 on here some where with 1. i would try hooking up stright 12 volt to the motor 1st and see if its the motor. then check fuses if it works and if their fine i would look for a new switch maybe.

if it's not the fuses, use the multimeter to trace over the defroster lines... if there is a split in the lines then the current wont flow over therefore no defroster... start at the two terminals and work your way inward along each line. You can buy the replacement chemical in a little bottle that you brush on to where the split is.
