rear camber
rear camber
does our cars come with a little bit of negative camber or are they supposed to be straight? i noticed a few weeks ago that both my rear wheels have a little bit of negative camber to them. i took it into a shop today and they told me they cant adjust it. is there any way to adjust it or do i just have to deal with it?
The lower the car the more negative the camber. The camber is not factory adjustable just as the shop indicated. Usually the problem is sagging springs. Restore the original ride height and you usually have correct camber. You can tilt the rear subframe to adjust the camber or there are adjustable links to replace the factory pieces to make each side individually adjustable. http://www.mazdatrix.com/h6_86-92.htm bottom of the page. There are many threads on this. MazdaTed has his camber definitions backwards. The top of the tire tilted inboard is negative camber.

Yes, negative camber is normal. This will increase as the springs wear. Before you get an alignment, replace the springs (and shocks).
There is only a very minimal adjustment for camber by loosening the rod, shifting the assembly, then tightening the rod again. So technically, it "can't" be aligned.

Second gens have about .5 degrees of negative camber in the rear. There is no camber adjustment! Only adjustment is toe in. You have to add an aftermarket part if you need to adjust the camber. If your suspension is stock and the camber is out them you need to look for worn part, maybe springs or bushings.
well he said the bushings could be worn but they looked okay to him. i was planning on going with RB springs when mine wore out, but the RB springs lower the car 1 inch, wich would fix my saggy springs but not fix my camber issue correct? also, wich rod are you talking about adjusting aaron? maybe i could take a look at it and make sure its tightend; since the car seemed to go out of adjustment only recently.

Correct! I recently installed RB springs. That made the rear camber -2 degrees. So I bought the AWR adjustable camber links and had it aligned. It's perfect now. The front you can adjust a little by turning the top mount. It was enough to make up for the lower springs.
AWR here: http://www.awrracing.com/pages/rx/rxsusp.html
You can also get the same thing from Mazdatrix with grease fittings: http://www.mazdatrix.com/h6_86-92.htm
I think they're a bit cheaper from AWR.
