Rear brakes making noise
I recently got my rear rotors turned and replaced the rear brakes. I did re-install the springs that were on the old pads.
I've noticed a noise that seems to be getting worse, sometimes it doesn't make it though. The left rear does it kind of all the time, softly, and the right rear does it when you brake.
From outside, it sounds like a squeek, from inside, it sounds like a grind. It changes with wheelspeed, and you only really notice it when you start braking. GRR GRR GRR GRR GRR GRRRR GRRRRRRR.
I would think warped rotors or something, but seeing as how I just got them turned (I mic-ed them out and they are still within spec) I'm really not sure. My next guess was the heatshield was rubbing, but it would do that all the time. I jacked the back end of the car up and spun the wheels by hand but was unable to duplicate the sound.

Mine did that, It was my brake pads that were down to the metal, grinding on the chewen up rotors. Im not sure if i fixed it yet since I havent had the chance to drive since I got the wrong brake pads sent to me. So I have to wait again to get it running

My brakes are doing something weird, too. It only happens randomly, but when I start to brake, my car shakes violently and makes a grinding sound. Kind of like when they are repaving the road, and the strip it down first off...and you drive on it, it's loud/bumpy/shakey/etc....that's how it is until I stop. I still slow down, but it's really bad sounding.

Sound anything like this? https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=656066
People had thought it was a wheel bearing in your thread, but I don't understand why it only does it when braking, then.
I think I may have a rear wheel bearing going....it rumbles pretty loud at speed and if I pull on the rear wheel with the car in the air, it wiggles a tiny bit.
But I still think this noise is brake related.

Just closing up the thread so that a future search might answer someone's question.
Popped the rear wheels off. Slid the calipers open. Flipped the pads around, tightened everything back up. The noise is gone. 0.0
One thing I did notice is that the pads were not wearing evenly on the backside of the rotor...maybe I just had them in there slightly cockeyed, but a firm press on the pedal should have fixed that.
Oh well...I'm not complaining. It's fixed.
