Really need help with this..

Hey guys, this is my first time in the 2nd generation tech. section..I've been an FD owner for about 5 months, and I am about to also pick up an FC,however,i'm a little embarassed to say that I know absolutely nothing about FC's and what they are going for.The only reason I am picking it up is because I found a local one,an '88 n/a automatic, not a convertable, and the seller is asking $1800.It has 96,000 miles on it,and also the original engine..All stock for the exception of an intake and exhaust..The exterior is in decent shape..Needs a paint job,but it has no body damage..The interior is in very good shape..Is this a good deal for $1800,or should I not bother??It will be somewhat of a project car for a buddy of mine..Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well If it was a manual I would say it is a pretty decent deal.. But a 5 speed swap is going to run at least $500 in parts alone...

You could buy a really nice N/A manual Trans car for $2300.... Justa n FYI..

Usually it is better with FC's to buy a nice example rather then attempt to make a "pretty nice" car great...

Actually, this is going to sound crazy, but my buddy that i'm getting the car for actually wanted an automatic..You would have to know him to understand why lol..But would you say that if I can talk the guy down another $100 or $200,it might be worth considering?

Automatic non-turbo rotaries are extreamly slow. Whats the point of having an automatic sports car anyways? Have your friend pass on the 7's and get someting with more torque if he needs an auto. Blah! how boring.

Yeah always figure that most people (unless firm is written) plan to go down about $300-$500 depending on asking price...

be careful of an auto. they are often not driven hard and have a lot of carbon built up.
