Reactive Air Filter Heat Sheild or Heat Magnet

okay on my 88TII the previous owner had a Reactive air filter with the heat sheild around it, when It was on my car the heat sheild was hot as hell, wouldn't this heat up the air going into the filter?

Don’t worry about it. Even a metal heat shield is still dramatically reducing the amount of heat reaching the filter. While something like fibreglass or carbon fibre would transfer even less heat, the actual temp difference would be negligible.
