Re-installing A/C?

Well...Despite what everyone thinks, Minnesota gets ******* hot in the summer, and leather interior does not help. So with temps of 105+, I need A/C back in the FC.

The previous owner removed the A/C, air pump, and all emissions. However, I do have all these parts and lines in a box. I have searched on the forum and I believe I may be missing some FSM files as I can't find any info on it.

Can I just run another belt to wherever the compressor bolts up, hook the lines back up (after I retrofit them to the new refrigerant), and call it a day?

I appreciate any help

Kinda. You must replace all the oem equipment. It's in the FSM complete with diagrams, check and reload if necessary.

While you have the parts out, flush the compressor with a dose of mineral compressor oil. Turn it by hand 25 turns or so, then dump it while turning. Repeat, repeat., verify with 12v that the clutch locks up. flush the lines with paint thinner and compressed air. Get a new dryer that FITS. Back flush the condenser with thinner and compressed air.

You need to replace all the o-rings since it is apart. oil the orings on reassembly.
Check that the system holds pressure (275psi) and squirt soapy water on all the joints. If you see bubbles, fix it!

Here is the rest you need to know:

SO basically, I would have to install the air pump again? I was hoping I could avoid that. I did intend on cleaning and testing the oem unit extensively and converting to the new refrigerant.

I know, I did read his post regarding the conversion of refrigerants. Extremely well written and informative.

Yes, very.
I was contemplating on switching to R134 until I read his thoughts on it.
I'm glad I kept the R12 .

The airpump has nothing to do with the belt system for the A/C.

You do need to be concerned with the belt slipping on the waterpump if you do not have the airpump belt. Search, this is widely written about. Double Alternator pulley or a Yoo Hoo belt.
