The only ground I was talking about was a 50/50 shot to eliminate the 3800 hesitation, and that's it. That technic was preached on the internet for years (I wish I could remember the damn sight) anyway it preceeded the rx7club, and it worked for me.

That's what I'd do, but I'd also measure it's resistance first to see if it's worth the effort. A bit of surface corrosion doesn't necessarily mean the whole wire is corroded.
