RB header --> Borla Xr-1 --> Apexi N1's

So the previous owner of this car put in an RB header --> RB presilencer --> N1 Dual's. This was just too damn loud. I had a high flow cat welded in at a local exhaust shop, and that was a little better, but I'm wondering if some other kind of presilencer would make the thing bearable. I don't want to buy a whole new catback.

Would a 2.5" Borla XR-1 be quieter than a high flow cat or the RB presilencer? How about a magnaflow muffler or something... buying a new catback just seems like alot of money down the drain. With the RB presilencer the exhaust was sooo high pitched. I just want to quiet the thing down without having to ditch the catback, as that will cost me $Texas. I'm actually running a glasspack right now with the cat but damn that has killed all my power... it's sooooooooo restrictive. Emissions is not an issue really.

Search threads made by dDub he has a video. He had a simular exhaust system to yours before he put in a Borla. He made a noticlable difference in note and according to him, didn't restrict any power. Its much quieter and not very restrictive.

Good luck!

Replacing your catback is not as expensive as you think. If you sell your old one, you can make back most of the money. A Borla XR-1 will work pretty well, and it won't just lower the volume of the exhaust, it'll improve the sound a bit.
