RB exhuast and my 5/6th ports
Okay I just need a few things cleared up before I go ahead and buy this new system. I am looking to buy the true dual header/presilencer and y pipe from racing beat and it says that it removes the air pump and such. My question is on an S4 how can I still open my ports after the air pump has been eliminated. I have searched and found a few different things but most require the air pump to still be there. Will the pressure from the exhaust be enough to open the ports without the air pump? Or I found a thread about someone using lumbar things from ford to open the ports. I need to know whether I can get rid of my air pump now since it is causing a god awful squealing noise now under acceleration, or will I need to use it to open my ports after I get the exhaust. Also anyone who has the RB dual exhaust how do you open your ports? Thanks for your help.

I'm planning on going the racing beat way as well and according to the site the header I'm planning on getting has a pick up tube that will still open our ports

Screw exhaust pressure, do it electronically. It opens at exactly the same RPM every time, nice and reliable. It's really easy to do, here's my write-up.

Yup. Ignore backpressure activation, it's not very reliable once you start modding your exhaust system. It works, but there's a pretty good band that the ports may open in.
