RB Downpipe and APex'i BOV Questions
Okay, for the owners of RB 3" downpipes, what did you use to tighten the upper inner nut, closest to the intake manifold. I have cursed this thing for hours and not been able to get it tight enough to not leak. Any tips, I have tried grinding wrenches and what not and still no real luck
Second, does anyone have a Apex'i Twin chamber BOV? How do you set it? The apex instructions suck ***. I am getting boost spike on shifts, when it should be vented. Should I tighten or loosen the spring to prevent spike?

A deep well 14mm socket in combination with two 12 inch long extensions and a ratchet ....from under the car. Car on car ramps. In the past I've had this stud strip out and used only the other two studs/nuts with good results. lSince then I've removed the turbo and retapped the stripped part of the threads and now use all three studs. I ran like that for over a year. I've never had to use a new gasket and I've had this pipe off at least four times..(turbo swap outs).

Okay, well I guess I have to find nuts with smaller heads than, cuz mine use a 17mm wrench and it keeps hitting the side of the pipe before the wrench will slide all the way on.
i have a twin chamber blow off valve........ i guess i just got lucky, because mine worked perfect from the box......... but from what ive gathered, you just adjust the top screw, rev the motor (or drive it)... and repeat untill the spike is gone and your valve is "blowing off".... its a big pain in the ***, but that is what you have to do!!! they probubly dont tell you that in the instructions because it sounds rediculous!! so, good luck!

Yeah I went out and got a 14mm off a freind. When I bought my turbo it came with no fasteners so I just bought all new, never thinking the head size would matter, the 14mmm went on like butter. HMMM almost like it was made to......
I think I got that BOV figured out to, it was too tight and I am getting a vacuum leak from somewhere else contributing to the problems.

Sounds like you don't have something plummed n the BOV right...
Do you have the Loop from top to bottom of the BOV working??
You want the BOV tight enough that it doesn't leak under boost and thats about it. If the spring pressure is too tight, it won't open right.
Take it off, take it apart and clean it up and lube it, my old one got munged up and stuck shut...
Where do you have the BOV Vac line plummed to??
