RB catback or Apexi N1 Dual
Whats up,
I have a 1987 RX-7 GXL, and am going to buy a catback system soon and am wondering wich one to get between the the RB system or the Apexi N1 dual.
Which one is better for horsepower gains, style, and which one sounds better.
Thanx for your replies
Justin

I think Racing Beat is the winner in this comparison. It definitely looks better and definitely sounds better, not thrashy like the Apexi. I'm not too sure about horsepower gains, though. My brother got the RB catback on his ported set-up and said it's a great exhaust set that affords a very nice power increase. The canisters are beautifully welded and polished.
So, of the two, I'd get the Racing Beat set.

I have the RB turbo 3" exhaust, I would say it looks great, and the power increase is also great. The only thing that I would change is the sound: its silent at idle, then sounds like a deep air-plane at WOT, I would make it a bit louder if I could though.

ok, the RB def. wins in the sound dept. but the Apexi is much more aggressive looking. the RB is silent bc it incorporates pre-silencers AND quiet mufflers. I'd expect the Apexi system to make more power assuming you incorporate a nice downpipe/racepipe system to make it a full turboback like the RB. its answered like this...if you want stock and silent go for the RB, aggressive in looks and sound get the Apexi. Either one is a QUALITY system and will produce big gains on a TII.

i looked into those two CATback systems and talk to some of the shop pro in VT, they said the Dynomax was the better one for the RX7 and its sounds like a deep monster type sound!! i like very much and the ladies love to hear it and feel it!! it rumbles inside!!
its kinda like a harley davidson bike the ladies love the verbs between the legs(and something else, hehe) any who its all in preference too!! PEACE!!

I have the RB catback and love it. I wish it was a little louder sometimes though. If you want a more quiet system, go with the RB. If you want something louder, go with the Apexi. The Apexi will probably give you a few more horsepower because it flows better (at least without the silencer in), but i'd imagine the power difference isn't very noticeable. It mostly depends on which one you think looks better and whether you want a loud exhaust, or something more subdued. Either way you can't go wrong, they're both good quality.

I like the idea of a loud exhaust, as long as know one will EVER mistake my car for a civic when they hear it. Do they sound totally different, with the N1 than a civic? Also, the people that have the N1's, do you have cats or silencers? Should I have both a cat and a silencer, neither or one of them? I dont want it soo loud that it attracts the attention of everyone (cops hate loud exhausts!) thanks

Thanx for the great replies.
jgrts20, i appreciate your reply, and wanted to say good looking out bro!!!!!
A nice loud, rumbling, vibrating exhaust = less work for me to do with the girls. (hehehehe)

mine is really loud. anything over 2.5k is pretty loud. i was thinking about going racing beat downpipe and presilencer and dual N1's.. of course, you would have to mate them together.

Will the bonez replacement pipe be a direct swap for the cat on the RB system? Im thinking about buying this exhaust from some guy who used to have a TII, its a single 3" pipe all the way from the turbo, no cats, only one bend and a loud muffler, apexi i think.
