Rattiling sound

When I drive up hill or floor it when the car is moving (not in netural) the car kinda bogs down and makes this rattling sound. I was told it could be an engine mount but I checked when I took my engine craddle out and they are both fine

Any ideas on what this is and how to fix it?

I had a similar problem. For me it was the exhaust flange (hitting the heat shield and or exhaust manifold) - the skinny metal tube going from the engine to the mid pipe. I just went under my car and tied it up away from the problem areas with some wire. Now it sounds so smooth ALL The time hope this helps.

it could also be a loose exhaust manifold heat shield.

My converter rattled when it came apart. The engine would not redline in first gear with it floored. Straight pipe fixed that problem.

I can still redline it just rattles like a **** and sounds like the car is gonna blow up

I gutted my cats so I know my cats are not loose, I will check that little pipe that runs back to them and I will check the hear shield fo rthe exhaust manifold (wouldn't that be the header?) BTW I have a 89 GTU
