Rats nest removal?
or don't
best to just replace your vacuum lines, fix anything that needs attention and leave everything in there. your car will ultimately be slower by ripping everything out. it is a functional complete system, if you remove anything then you basically hurt performance in some way.
turbo cars can get away with it, but they are a simpler intake setup without any auxiliary ports to deal with.

Or this:
Rotary Resurrection home of the budget rebuild.
And since you'll be there, might as well delete the FPD:
Rotary Resurrection home of the budget rebuild.
-I've been following that^ myself, deleted ACV + air/smog pump + all associated plumbing, deleted FPD (as per above link- piece of cake!), I've also deleted A/C (I even got the unobtainium factory non-A/C duct!). The powersteering will be next to go and done right...thanks to: http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/depower.php?x=1 and
Gotta say, it sure is satisfying to de-clutter the engine bay! + easier to work on!

how many cars have i seen where the owner deleted the rats nest and incorporated an auxiliary port switching system?
NONE
i see wired open ports all the time, or deleted ports which causes low end to suffer. most of the time i see half baked deletes, with canisters on the auxiliary ports holding them closed which results in more of a top end power loss than the gains down low(stock bottom end power).
so you have the same top end and less bottom end or vice versa= slower car.
what gains do you get from removing the emissions on the engine? virtually none that i can think of, with the exception of freeing up a very few horsepower from deleting the smog pump. the cat hogs more power than the smog pump and can be omitted without removing the smog pump.
i've said it before and i will say it again, the n/a does better if you leave everything on the engine alone. modifying the intake and exhaust are about your only options for more power. a standalone can squeeze a little extra out after that and if you want to go further about your only option is drastic porting or nitrous if you want to keep it n/a for the endgame.
