The largest of the three or four nipples on the rear of the UIM just after the TB.

...and where dose the switching actuator hook upto...
As shown here.

Make sure you connect the check valve and solenoid in between the manifold and switching actuator, or the twin-scroll system won't work. See the pic on page 4B-53 of the FSM Fuel System chapter.

tHE TWIN SCROLL SOLENOID HAS A GREEN PLUG ON IT AND TWO WIRES. oNE IS bLUE/bLACK AND THE OTHER BLACK/WHITE.

fOLLOW THE VACUUM HOSE TO THE GREEN/WHITE CHECK VALVE.

Why not just remove the twin scroll / port the manifold? :O FTW!

The twin-scroll sustem is there to reduce turbo lag at low rpm. Those who doesn't understand it like to tell people to take it off. The turbine housing has two scrolls (passages to the turbine), and below 2700rpm one of the scrolls is closed by a flap in the manifold. This increase the gas velocity in the other scroll so the turbo spools up quicker.

You need to remove the solenoid with the green sticker and the green and white check valve from the vac rack. Use rubber vac hose to reconnect them exactly as per my sketch above and the schematic on page 4B-53 of the FSM Fuel Systems chapter. Make sure the solenoid is oriented correctly and the arrow on the check valve points to the manifold. Connect the green plug to the solenoid valve. I zip-tied the solenoid to the brake lines on the firewall and lengthened the plug's wires to reach.

Hey buddy, thanks for trying to say I don't understand the system. I am aware of how the system works, what its pros are...I am also aware of how big a hinderance it is in the top end. I don't know about you, but I don't spend much time under 3000-3500 rpm anyways. So, this would make the twin-scroll completely useless for me. Kthxbai.

With the twin scroll in operation, you get to boost quicker. The difference in high RPM is negligible.

What else was I supposed to think? If you really understand the system then why didn't you explain what it's for and what the advantages and disadvantages of removing it are? It was obvious the original poster didn't know, so your post was completely useless to him.

So exactly how much of a hinderance is it? I'm very interested in this because I've never seen anyone post any quantitative evidence of the restriction it causes.
