JB weld is crap for most of its recommended uses.

Don't even get me started on this argument. Its all about surface prep, just like any bonding process is.

I just fixed my handle using J-rats method. works GREAT!!!

I tried like 3 diff Epoxies including JB weld and non of them worked. I even tried welding the thing until i realized its made of some gay *** metal I cant even remember how to pronounce.

Nothing wrong with J-RAT's method. But you might try making a doubler and riveting it on the two broken pieces of metal as shown in the attached jpg. Some mild imagination required to view the jpg.

Like I said.. ITs ghetto. Making a doubler is a more sturdy fix but I just thought this fix would get people on the road QUICK..

Funny thing is I have done this to cars that are still working after a year or two..

What kind of wire did you use? Should be able to get safety wire at a hardware store.

Home Depot sells safety wire. I done did seen it last week.

I'm not sure they call it safety wire, but it was on a roll and looked like .032 wire dia.

OR! Join the AF and steal a roll from the gov't. You get a bonus for signing up, I think. humor

By the way, nobody has said what size wire. What? .020? .032? .060?

I was using .020 but it flexes too much (try using safety-wire pliers on it.. No bueno)... So I stepped up to .032.

And I resent the insinuation that I may have gotten it from bench stock!

i used nylon fishing line instead of safety wire I kept breaking it. With a little super glue. The JB weld sucks

I've used Jrats method for about a year now. I used a more wraps of safety wire though to help handle the load of opening the door. It's worked great.

Bought a brand new door handle and I'm glad I did. The OEM paint is excellent, and the handle just feels new. Like buttah.

HAHA i did the same thing to my vert. when the handle broke... and jb weld does break.. i did the same thing. drill holes and use some wire. ha. i also used some kevlar string to wrap around it. to help it out.

good to hear someone else finally figured it out.
