i have just come acrooss a t2 hood that i put on my car and i found out that it wasnt aluminium it is acually steel i was told that these are rare as hell come some one let me know are these really rare

 

I dont think they are what youd call rare, and if so why does it matter. they are an inferior hood that weigh much more than their aluminum cousin

 

Ive seen a couple of these. I didnt think they were rare.. My friends TII had a steel hood. We used to always make fun of him about it..

LOL the guy I bought my 10ae from recently bought an S5NA, and I was helping him bump his idle down, and went to open the hood and was like "damn that bitch is heavy!". I recently removed the hood on the 10ae to do some work on it, and it was a 1 man operation.

 

the steel hood might be heavier but is easier to fix and less prone to damage. ive had 3 aluminum hoods and kept my steel one over all of them. who the **** cares if its heavier? do you actually think it makes a difference? how many hp do you think you gain my using an aluminum hood?

 

There is only 20 lbs difference between the steel and aluminum Turbo hoods.

 

it doesnt matter to me cause i have allready stripped everything i dont need from my rex so a couple extra pounds in the hood dont make a really big difference some one just told me they were rare

 

Steel hoods are lame, don't try to rationalize them.

 

and your logic behind this.....? when it's on the car you cant even tell.

 

When you do a lot of weight reduction, it adds up.

 

if the aluminum hood is damaged its pretty much un-repairable. if that 20lbs of weight loss is worth trying to find another t2 hood then i guess thats up to you.

 

If you're not trying to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse, a steel hood makes good sense for reasons listed above.

No, the alum one weighs 32 lbs, the steel hood weighs 52 lbs

 

by the time you gut your car and remove 150-200 pounds you can tell a slight difference in overall performance. BUT it feels rickety as hell and is loud and uncomfortable.overall, if its not a car you take to the track all the time an DD it then keep it comfortable. easier to use etc. i guess that doesnt really tie into an steel hood though...
