i was working on my 91 t2 yesterday and never got finished untill dark. as i was checking under the bonnet one last time for any tools i may have left there i noticed something strange. sparks were jumping between the trailing coil and the strut tower ! i dont just mean the ocassional spark, i'm guessing about 5-10 random sparks a second (the engine was running). has anyone got any suggestions as to why this is happening ?

 

I've never see it. Just check for any cracks in tower and wires, and make sure plug wire connections are tight in tower and on plugs.
