I got a random idea and want your opinions on this..

I recently purchased a used Engine Torque Brace that Racing Beat used to sell and discontinued. When attempting to install I noticed i would have to relocate my aeromotive fuel pressure regulator and dont want to have to redo another braided gas line.

Instead look at the pictures below of the mock up of what I had in mind...

Attaching the brace from the lower water pump housing to the turbo compressor housing ? Of course the rod would have to be cut, new threads tapped, new holes drilled and blah blah blah.

Give me your thoughts, opinions, positive or negative feedback on this. Dont bash and criticize.

 

I was under the impression that brace bolted to the back driver side of the engine... maybe using the bell housing bolts.

 

I found pics on Google..so you may want to re-think where you put that Brace Roman.
I for one would not want a brace on the Turbo to the frame.
If the engine makes excessive torque it could break something.

Engine Brace. Here's a pic. but use your imagination.

This brace is an X that is wrapped around the top of the motor mount. It only grabs if the
engine is torqued up. it grabs on all four notches in the motor mount cap.

During normal driving it is about 1mm away from touching. When torque is applied and the motor lifts
on this side it hooks it down. So far no issues tearing mounts at 420whp.

Motor moves less, quiet under street driving, and no pressure applied to sensitive parts.

Thanks Dave, i found pics and the racing beat installation manual myself. But im not gonna install this because i would have to relocate my fuel pressure regulator and i dont wanna do that.

This thread was to inquire if this other location of installation was worth experimenting.

Seems like a lot of force applied to those off camber (semi-loose?) bolts. The 1st pic kinda trips me out. Plus, imagine if you screwed your turbo up, breaking bolts off with a used torque dampener.
"A chain is as strong as it's weakest link" and that car looks like it makes some power. I'd bite the bullet and move the FPR.

 

Agreed. Given the two choices moving the FPR is an easy decision.

 

In the end, i will sell it. Instead, I will build an engine torque brace similar to this one I found on nopistons.com: Engine Torque Damper - NoPistons -Mazda Rx7 & Rx8 Rotary Forum
