Random FC related thoughts & observations from the past week
Sorry for the scattering. A bunch of thoughts/comments on things.
First, I ziptied the "secondary secondary" plates open. This fixed the random lack of power on the highway, smoothed out throttle response, and seems to lead to much better power above 3000 RPM - the engine pulls harder and sounds better. They're getting removed and the throttle body is getting smoothed out in the near future.
Second, the replacement thermostat fixed ALL the overheating problems I was having. It wasn't exactly overheating, but it was warming up noticeably under hard driving, and I was afraid to run the AC. Replaced the thermostat, I can't get it above 1/3rd temperature gauge (S4) no matter what I do (max AC, hard driving, high speed driving, etc).
Third, this is hands down the most stable car I've driven at speed. With the windows shut, 110 mph feels like 50-60 in other vehicles (middle of nowhere). Rock solid, sticks to the road, doesn't feel like it's going to depart from controlled driving.
Fourth, I'm probably unemployed as a result of said car. I find out at 8 AM or so if I still have my job after a fairly massive speeding ticket (I'm a (probably former) bus driver).

That's our problem, Russ, these cars are just too fun and subliminally make us drive faster, lol...I've slowed my *** down too lately after my last ticket- they're starting to "add up" on my driving record now, lol...

Well, as near as I can tell, unless there's some sort of legal fuckup, I'm unemployed as a result of this. Assuming everything goes through properly, I lose my license for 90 days. If I lose my license, I lose my job.

106 in a 55. I had no idea I was going that fast - windows up & such. Last I had checked I was doing 75-80 in 5th. I don't doubt I got up that fast, but I hadn't really noticed.

Well, I'm going to see what I can do, but as near as I can tell, in Iowa, anything > 25 over is a 90 day suspension. I'm planning to show up & talk to the judge (after talking to a lawyer to see if I even have a chance). I had just finished doing some engine work and the car was running a LOT better than it had been (ziptied the secondary throttle blocker plates open) and I had the windows shut which isn't normal for me. Plus, my speedo had been broken for a while (cable came disconnected) so I wasn't really used to looking at it.
I expect a "That's nice. I don't care. Give me your license & walk home."

Fight it. I got a ticket going 190 in a 80 zone (km/h). Anything 50 over here is an immediate "loss of licence". I took it to a traffic ticket defence centre, paid them 400 dollars and they fought it in court. Had to write an apology letter, take a defensive driving course, and in the 7 months it took to put it through, I kept my licence and only had 3 demerit points put on my licence.
And I wasn't even driving my FC at the time. Damn v8 crown victoria is smooth as silk that fast. :O

1.3L is not that small
two words... deffered adjucation... what i did every time i get a ticket... you go on like a probation and if you dont get a ticket during that time (sometimes 90 days or 30 days) then the ticket gets wiped completely off of your record... good luck
