Racing Beat RevII with no port?
Racing Beat RevII with no port?
I have read conflicting things for a while about using the racing beat turbo back without porting a S5 WG. Some say it will result in a safe 11 psi, some say an engine popping 16psi. I have been told there will be crazy boost creep, and I have also been told it will be just fine.
Can anyone chime in from personal experience and not just some crap they think they heard once?
I have a 90 T2, Rtek 1.5 for the FCD, basic cone filter swap, otherwise un-modded.

Highly depends on the gear, the weather, engine porting, and boost controller. Even with a ported s5 wastegate I once hit 18(!)psi in 3rd when it was colder than 40 F outside. This resulted in audible detonation (RA Super Seals ftw). Mods at the time were 2.5" Greddy PE catless exhaust, manual boost controller, large streetport, Greddy front mount intercooler.
I wouldn't risk it. If you don't port the wastegate, at least put a cat on there to restrict it a little.

if you do it, unhook the factory boost solenoid.
my last t2 was, an s4 with s5 turbo, RB turbo back, cone air filter. it would only boost to .4bar, on a cold day maybe it would hit .5 around 4000-5000rpm
WG was totally stock.
same car with an S4 turbo would hit almost 1bar on a cold night in the midrange
