racing beat exhaust and wide band

Hi Gang,
I have an '88 TII which I have found has a Racing Beat Rev TII Complete exhaust system. My question: Will this downpipe accept a wide band O2 sensor?
I need to take the exhaust off soon to replace a bad gasket and will put a new bung on it then if I have to.

Anyone here know?

Thanks!

Weld a bung at the end of the downpipe in the 10 or 2 o'clock position.

So you're telling me that the bung in it now won't take a wide band?

Oh, it will, but sticking a wideband 2 inches from the turbo isn't a good idea. It will overheat easily there.

I had a custom bung installed at the end of the down pipe.

That makes sense. Upon further examination today, i've found that the blown gasket is not the exhaust flange, but the turbo inlet.
So, since I'm looking at some semi-major disassembly, I'll plan on putting a new bung at the end of the downpipe.

Here's an opinion request:
Would it be okay to drive this car to work with the gasket leak if I drive gently and keep my foot out of it?
This is my daily driver and this project will have to wait until probably Thursday. depends on how quickly I can get parts in. My commute is about 25mi each way; part freeway, part surface street.

So, am I asking for real trouble putting another 100mi or so on it in this condition?

THX

it'll be ok. it will sound like *** though and it may feel slower. I had an O2 bung pop out and I could feel the loss of response (this was on stock turbo).

Thanks for that. Yeah, it sounds pretty bad, but I can tolerate as long as I'm not doing damage by driving it. It does seem a bit more doggy off the line than it did last week.

Guess I'll take it off the jack stands for now and make some online orders. Anything else I should do while I have all that stuff disassembled?
