Arrow Racing Beat Eccentric Shaft Thermal Bypass Pellet Install

Today I installed the Racing Beat Eccentric Shaft Thermal Bypass Pellet. It bypasses the low oil pressure at startup (sopposed to warm up engine faster) but normally sticks and keeps your oil pressure low.

can be found here;

http://www.racingbeat.com/RX7-1986-1...tem/11800.html

This was easier than doing the oil pressure regulator. had it done in less than a hour. you need a airgun/compressor to get the pulley bolt off.

Pull your radiator fan shroud, (I pull the battery to snake it out so i dont have to open the cooling system)

then pull out your radiator fan. (assuming you have the factory clutch type)

you should look like this.

now this is where it gets scary. There is a bearing that sits behind the pulley and if it falls your screwed and have to pull the front cover apart. and you dont want to do that as it sucks... a lot.

So What ive read is to wedge the clutch pedal down with a block of wood, or have someone lazy sit in the car and hold it down for you.

As long as you dont remove the pulley you will be ok. You just need to know about that and be careful.

Next step is to remove the pulley bolt. Its a 19mm bolt and it can suck if you dont have a air gun. One squeeze from my gun it came right off. good luck getting it off any other way.

next, take the racing beat "shim" and slightly screw it on to the supplied install bolt.

inset her all the way in and unscrew the bolt leaving the shim inside.

Now take the spring and pellot that you removed and toss it. Take the pulley bolt and apply some sealent (i use ultra flange from honda) and re install the bolt.

now torque the bulley bolt to 98ftlbs

reinstall everything else and enjoy.

Just did this today! Question though, how did you tighten the locknut bolt without having the pulley system rotate. I was only able to tighten it to 80ft lbs while using a strap wrench before it started stretching and no longer could be torqued.
