race question

i know that when racing you can redline it. is it really ok to? and if so can i rev it all the way to 8grand?

by the way i have an 86 n/a. with rb header and presilencers, with hks mufflers. it full dual uncollescted from the motor back.

your car has redline at 7k, 8k does not really make sense on stock engine

There is no power on a S4 non turbo past 6800 RPM so there is no reason to exceed the redline all the way to 8K rpm

You can redline the engine anytime you want. Racing doesn't make any difference.

If it wasn't, the redline would be lower. But engine wear increases with revs, no matter where the redline is. The higher you rev, and the longer you spend up there, the faster engine wear occurs.

and if so can i rev it all the way to 8grand?
Apart from the fact that there's no power up there, if it was okay to rev it to 8 that's where the redline would be! That should be pretty obvious...

i think he means.. would the engine "pop" if he redlines it at 8k.
