ra tention bolt orings (oring first?)
I lost the peice of paper that showed exactly what order to put the orings and washers on the tention bolts. Do any of you guys know? Basically instead of sending the washer and orings together like mazda does they put in washers and orings seperate so I'm just wondering in what order do I put them on the tention bolt. Thanks!
put the washers on the bolts with the tapered edge facing the block then put the o-rings on. the o-ring sit in the tapered seat where the bolts tighten down. you can see the chamfer in the washer and on the block, those sandwich the o-ring.
the rear is easy, not a tight fit... if you have a vice, clamp it down with some rags or pieces of wood to protect it and take a long screwdriver or prybar and the leverage to pop it out under the seal face on one side and above it on the other, you can also do this by bolting it to the iron and standing on it.
the front main seal is also easy, place the cover on a few blocks of wood and take a flat tipped screwdriver and place it in the groove between the inner seal face and the outer metal portion that compresses it to the cover, whack the head of the screwdriver a few times and it should pop out.
install both seals by placing them flat into their housing and place a flat block of wood wrapped with a rag onto them and hammer in the center of the wood until the seals won't go in any further.

way too complicated.
rubber mallet gets them out in about .1243241 seconds every time for me.
