Quiet Exaust for a 1991NA

Is there suct a thing as a quiet exaust where power is
not completly lost on a 1991NA rex. I have a hello Mr. Police Officer, yes it gives me a hedache loud exaust.
Racing Beat Headers, into a high flow cat that i had to gut cause it broke apart into these mufflers that you can se through, oh and it's all stanless. i put supertrapps on it last summer and they do quiet it but it makes a funny noise that i dont like. anyway I'd like to change it to a quiet one but don't want to loose alot of power, any sugestions??

If noise is an issue, whatever you do stick with the dual rear mufflers. They'll always be quieter than a single because ech muffler only has to deal with half of the noise energy. If the pipes are correctly sized there'll be no difference in power over a single. Go for big cans too. Obviously the bigger the can the more sound absorbing material there is.

Yes the RB mufflers are quiet if you don't go crazy on the road and floor it every other second.

im looking to do the same setup.. (as some have seen my thread) i am going with an elec port actuation setup (s4) and im looking to get a header, have NO cats, but still keep it quiet..

are stock dual mufflers my best option? i realize it will be much louder without the cats / stock manifold, but im still going for a sound thats THERE, but isnt loud and annoying..

Well RB or HKS are probably your best bet for quiet unless you want to buy some stock OEM mufflers. I would not.

no, dont go with the stock mufflers behind a header, that will be too loud... get a catback... so far the only ones ive heard are the racing beat on a turbo2... which was very quiet... im getting my true duals soon, with racing beat mufflers... so we will see how loud they are on the na

well i was thinking OEM mufflers because.. well.. anyone seen the insides? lol.. i have a few times.. seems to be the best for queiting things down..

but again, maybe not with a header and no cats..

one main concern of mine is can i really mute the sound without adding alot of backpressure?

You could put dual N1's and slap the silencers in there. They sound really nice when the silencers are out. So when you are on the road for daily driving keep the silencers in and when you're off to the tracks, take them out. It's a simple way to keep quite but still have power when you race.

My straight bomz evo setup is pretty quiet, especially with the silencers in, it sounds almost completely stock (no cats, no notta, just the cheap-o bomz mufflers on the end), and I can always pull them out if I feel like making noise

Black13B-

I think the exhaust was not warm when they shot that. I don't think my car is that loud but if that is how you feel then good luck with your other exhausts.

ok i see how that works

looks like it just puts a TON of back pressure on the exhaust system when closed..

but if that is how you feel then good luck with your other exhausts.
yeah i know eh.. i think im gonna have a rough time keeping the car really quiet with a header and no cats.. just thought id see if you guys have seen such a setup before..

Yeh. That is a tad scary. But if you think about it. You wouldn't want the thing closed when your "Having happy time." Im not too sure how well it works.

WABBITTS!!

aWell I can make the duals be quieter than stock. That all just depends on driving style and your tolerance to noise. But just for an example at 80MPH with the windows open of closed you pick I can make them just humm along like the stock exhaust. like I have said at idle they are quieter than stock.
