Quick thread on gas smell origins...

Last week I noticed after driving my car for a while that there is a slight gas smell from the engine bay. I did a lot of reading on the PD problems in the past... I was looking at it again recently just to check up on it... I know one thing could be a failing PD.

But I also read one guy saying he had a slight gas smell and it turned out that his PD was fine but the line from the primary to his secondary rail was dry rotting.

I started the car the other night to make sure that I did smell gas when I drove it a week ago (was out of state 3 days and unable to do anything). It idled for 10 minutes and there was no gas smell or evidence of any leaking. Gave it a little throttle and still nothing after 5 more minutes. So I made a brief trip to Walmart and back. Then there was a slight smell of gas again.

I've got to head home for a few things tomorrow so I'll have someone else drive me back... So I'll not really mess with anything til after all the exams and this weekend. What else could a gas leak come from? I only smell it in the very back of the engine bay at the passenger side. I figure I'll just end up replacing all the lines and the PD to see if the smell (hopefully) goes away. Just wanted to see if there was anything else...

I know there've been tons of threads about the PDs before, just wanting to see if there could be any other causes of it.

Thanks. Sorry for the long post for so little.

Well I smelled gas on my S5 n/a and thought it was something engine related. Turns out it was a volvo gas cap the guy before me had put on was leaking, stupid people. I doubt that is your problem but its worth a look.
