Quick Radiator Question. Please Help
I have an 88 FC SE, and i bought a used radiator off of an 86 FC.
There is no filler cap on the new radiator, but there is one on the old radiator that came with the car.
is this going to be a bad result in the future?
Do i NEED a filler cap on the radiator?
Can I use this radiator?
It seems that the 86 FC apparently can run without that filler cap. Can mine?
Any help would be appreciated.
thank you

Warm the engine up with the cap off. Don't worry about the cap on the rad. Make sure the caps and thermostat are OEM. Have the logicon (heater control) temp slider to warm, to open the water valve (listen for it moving), and avoid air pockets.
Tip. You may want to fill the engine side up to the thermostat with it off, then install thermostat. Sometimes, if the coolant doesn't reach the thermostat, it doesn't open soon enough after replacing coolant. Also, make sure the thermostat has a little vent hole and jiggle pin to let air escape. Also when filling, loosen the bleed plug near the top neck of the rad to let air escape. See FSM for orientation of the vent hole in the thermostat (link in my sig.). I have also posted pics about this...will look for it.

so the thermostat i got, doesnt have the "jiggle pin", but the car runs cool.
however i need to put a better gasket on because its leaking a little ffrom the thermostat. *sigh*
on another note, this radiator I got off the 86 FC, doesnt have the pressure cap on the radiator, therefor it doesnt have an over flow tube. WTF??
what am I supposed to do about the overflow??
and why it idles so weird, i have no idea. until its warm.. then idles fine.
