Quick Question regarding P/S Removal (/w Diagram)

I've read through the multiple threads regarding the power steering removal but I wanted to post this diagram to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Maybe it will help out others as well. Please see diagram below. Car is a 1986 GXL.

Picture is shrunk down to not mess up the margins for the thread. Please click the link below to see full size diagram

The orange text is questioning the re-routing of the lines. I was reading you can loop them.

yes u can loop the lines but u get even better repsonse by taking the time and removing all the seals inside it as well. if u loop them all u are doing is working harder pushing left over fluid from 1 end to the other

I know and have read up on de-powering the rack via the Flying Miata website. I do not have the time to pull the rack out of the car and complete the seal removal. This is really a temaporary fix until I get a manual rack.

If you look at the diagram can the lines in purple be removed?
Can the yellow text be capped?

Thanks for the replies/clarification.

The manual rack has a longer ratio than the PS rack, it will make the car hard to drive. I bled the fluid and looped the lines on my rack and it feels fine.

a longer ratio will have an easier feel, but you have to turn the wheel more for a given turning radius.

Khan, what type of hose/line did you use to loop the lines?

The first time I did it I had no idea the lines looped all the way across the engine bay and back (why is that?) so I looped the rubber hose with the fitting. I removed both the lines tonight and I'll probably find a drain plug to plug the hole tomorrow, or find a way to loop them. I'll probably rig up something

Yeah and the 20:1 school bus ratio will make the car hard to drive (fast).

Ok I need some assistance. Right now we are trying to re-route the lines. Please refer to the picture below. A buddy and I looked at the diagram above click here and felt that we could plug the line that goes up to the radiator as it is just an input line for cooled oil from the pump.

i just removed my PS the cheap, quick, dirty, ghetto rigging style that your trying to accomplish...

plug all three of the holes in the picture right above my post.

then, loop lines according to this photo...

(theres 2 that you cant see in the photo, by the 3 holes that you should plug)

I ended up using a drain plug for where one of the lines came out and a piece of air pump hose with a perfectly fitted vacuum cap clamped to the line with the fitting. Its pretty ghetto but it works
